Saturday morning, a praise and worship ceremony took place. I was exhausted from the day before (7 hour boat ride party plus an evening beach soul party). However, I was able to wake up at 8:30 AM thanks to my alarms (and calls from my dad)! I quickly got dressed and gathered my necessary photo equipment to cover the praise and worship ceremony at 9:00 AM. The ceremony took place at an outdoor venue by the beach at The Westin Puntacana Resort & Club.
Upon my arrival, I realized I would be shooting in a difficult lighting situation. Guests would be seated under the shade of a large canopy. Harsh sunlight was streaming in from the open areas of the venue. Immediately, I realized I would need to use my flash to provide fill light to combat the harsh shadows and highlights present due to the setting.
This was a situation I was unfamiliar with. However with trial and error, I was able to get a variety of beautiful photos that capture the energy and emotions of this gathering. Overall, it was a very lovely ceremony and I’m grateful that I had the opportunity to cover it!
